Emad joined the army after graduating from high-school. Emad was injured clearing one of the frontlines in Taiz from the Houthi-left mines, when a mine exploded blasting into his face, eyes and arms. He has lost sight in his left eye and has 30 percent vision left in the other eye. Both his arms were decapitated. He came to Egypt in early 2017, accompanied by his younger brother. They depend on donations for his medical care costs and their living expenses.
